Home and Community-Based Services (HCS)

The Texas Home and Community-Based Services (HCS) program is a Medicaid waiver program providing individualized supports—such as residential care, day habilitation, nursing, and therapies—to people with intellectual disabilities (IDD) or related conditions. It acts as an alternative to institutional care, allowing individuals to live in their own homes, family homes, or small group homes.

Texas Home Living (TxHmL)

The Texas Home Living (TxHmL) program is a Texas Medicaid waiver program providing essential community-based services to individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID) or related conditions who live in their own or family homes. It aims to prevent institutionalization by offering services like behavioral support, nursing, respite, and adaptive aids, often acting as a bridge while waiting for the HCS waiver.
